**TGS Completes Seismic Survey in Offshore Mid-Norway: Unlocking New Hydrocarbon Potential**

TGS Completes Successful Seismic Data Acquisition in Outer Vøring, Norwegian Sea

TGS, a leading provider of seismic data, has successfully concluded a seismic survey offshore mid-Norway, marking an exciting milestone in the country’s ongoing exploration efforts. This recent campaign was an extension of TGS’s 2023 acquisition program in the region, further enhancing the company’s comprehensive seismic dataset.

The survey was conducted over the course of one month, utilizing the Ramform Hyperion, which covered an extensive area of more than 1,500 square kilometers. This extensive data collection is pivotal for understanding the subsurface structures and prospectivity of the region.

The Norwegian continental shelf has long been a focal point for oil and gas exploration, with TGS at the forefront of these efforts. The company has amassed an impressive 3D seismic data coverage in underexplored basins such as the Møre and Vøring basins, utilizing advanced techniques for improved imaging, especially in volcanic basins and sub-basalt targets through its Sub-basalt Imaging Research (SIR) project.

Key to this survey was the deployment of state-of-the-art technologies, such as advanced processing tools and velocity model building methods like Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and Q-tomography. These modern techniques not only enhance image clarity but also minimize noise and multiple contamination, thereby providing a more accurate and reliable dataset.

The positive results from this survey are expected to significantly contribute to the discovery of new hydrocarbon plays offshore Norway. The integrated dataset, combining both legacy and modern seismic data, has revealed promising potential in the mid-Norway region. Moreover, TGS’s involvement in identifying potential targets has been instrumental in Petronas’s recent Bekok-Deep 1 oil and gas discovery offshore Peninsular Malaysia, which was achieved using TGS’s Peninsular Malaysia 3D Mega Merge seismic dataset.

TGS’s commitment to delivering high-quality seismic data continues to be a driving force in the oil and gas industry’s exploration efforts globally. As the company remains at the forefront of seismic exploration technology, it is anticipated that future surveys will unlock even more of the region’s untapped hydrocarbon potential.
