**Aker BP Set to Drill Two Wells at the Tambar Øst Field in the Southern Norwegian North Sea**
In a significant move in the Norwegian offshore sector, Aker BP has received the necessary approvals from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) to conduct drilling operations at the Tambar Øst field. This permission grants Aker BP the right to use the Noble Invincible jackup for production drilling, ensuring the efficient exploration and extraction of oil reserves in the region.
The Tambar Øst field, discovered in 2007, is located approximately 2 kilometers east of the Tambar field and sits in waters as deep as 70 meters. To date, the field has been producing from a single well drilled from the Tambar platform. This new drilling project aims to enhance production efficiency by adding two new wells: 1/3-K-5 and 1/3-K-3.
Havtil’s authorization for these operations underscores the dynamism and ongoing commitment of Norway’s oil and gas sector to maximize hydrocarbon recovery. Furthermore, the modification of existing facilities like the Draupner E and South by Gassco, which is part of the “Draupner robustness project,” demonstrates a broader strategy to strengthen the infrastructure supporting offshore operations. Equinor is set to provide technical services for these modifications, ensuring seamless integration with Norway’s gas transport pipeline network.
The implementation of these projects not only boosts short-term production but also contributes to long-term sustainable practices in the oil and gas industry. As global energy demands continue to evolve, investments in advanced drilling technologies and robust infrastructure settings become increasingly crucial.
