The NCMA 2 block was awarded as part of the Shallow Water Competitive Bid Round 2023/2024, a highly competitive process that ended on May 27, 2024. The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) of Trinidad and Tobago announced the signing of the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) on November 19, 2024. This collaboration between BPEOC and the Trinidadian government underscores the commitment of both parties to drive exploration and investment in the upstream sector.

#### An Expansive Strategy

For BP, this award signifies a strategic move to expand its exploration horizon and maximize production in existing acreage. The NCMA 2 block, situated in water depths of approximately 200 meters, offers immense potential for discovering new hydrocarbon reserves. By securing this block, BP is poised to gain a foothold in a new exploration arena, potentially leading to the discovery of new oil and gas deposits.

#### Significance of the Award

The signing of the PSC for the NCMA 2 block marks a pivotal moment in the history of BPEOC. It demonstrates the company’s ability to navigate complex bidding processes and secure prime exploration opportunities. The proximity of the NCMA 2 block to existing operations also indicates a practical approach to minimize logistical challenges and maximize operational efficiency.

#### Collaboration and Commitment

At the signing ceremony, The Honourable Stuart R. Young, S.C., M.P., Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, alongside Mr. David Campbell, President of bpTT, celebrated this achievement. Their presence underscores the collaborative effort and mutual commitment between BPEOC and the MEEI to boost Trinidad and Tobago’s hydrocarbon reserves and secure its energy future.

#### Enhanced Exploration Capabilities

With the addition of the NCMA 2 block to its portfolio, BP gains enhanced capabilities to explore and exploit offshore resources. This expansion into new basins while continuing to optimize existing operations underscores the company’s strategic vision for sustainable growth in the oil and gas
