IMAGE 2024: DUG premieres elastic seismic imaging technique

DUG Introduces Revolutionary Elastic Seismic Imaging Technique at IMAGE 2024

DUG Technology has unveiled a groundbreaking seismic data processing, imaging, and interpretation development called DUG Elastic Multi-parameter Full Waveform Inversion (MP-FWI) Imaging. This innovative solution is a significant advancement in the oil and gas industry, offering improved results in a significantly shortened timeframe.

The new elastic technique builds on DUG’s acoustic MP-FWI imaging technology, which has been applied in more than 40 projects globally. By integrating advanced physics, DUG Elastic MP-FWI Imaging eliminates many assumptions and approximations typically associated with traditional workflows. This allows for more accurate and detailed imaging of the seismic wavefield, ensuring true-amplitude representations for quantitative interpretation.

The technique is particularly effective in handling strong impedance contrasts, such as those created by salt or chalk. These contrasts can significantly impact the seismic wavefield, necessitating precise treatments to achieve correct imaging and accurate quantitative interpretations.

Among the capabilities of DUG Elastic MP-FWI Imaging are addressing three-component reflectivity, Vp, Vs, P-impedance, S-impedance, and density. This comprehensive approach enables detailed analysis and better decision-making in oil and gas exploration and production operations.

DUG made this exciting announcement at The International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy (IMAGE 2024) in Houston. The company is showcasing its latest advancements at the IMAGE 2024 event, where it is exhibiting at booth 1432.
