Aker BP and Pandion Energy have been recognized for their innovative efforts to extend the production of the Valhall and Hod fields in the southern Norwegian North Sea at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) Conference & Exhibition in Stavanger.
The two fields have produced almost four times the oil and gas initially anticipated in their development plans. This remarkable achievement is the result of Aker BP’s leadership and Pandion Energy’s commitment to their partnership. Aker BP took over operatorship in 2016, with Pandion Energy joining as a licensee in 2017.
One of the key initiatives contributing to this success has been the introduction of power from shore in 2013, significantly reducing emissions from the fields. The implementation of new technologies is also crucial in enhancing recovery rates. The partners have demonstrated willingness to take risks and engage in long-term planning to achieve energy-efficient development, utilizing digital technologies and collaborating with technology companies and research institutions.
Johan Molvig, Aker BP’s senior vice president for the Valhall area, highlighted their strategy: “When we connect Fenris and PWP, currently under development and scheduled for completion in 2027, we will be well-positioned for continued development and growth, establishing Valhall as a gas hub in the southern North Sea.” These projects are integral to their award, emphasizing Aker BP’s commitment to transforming the oil and gas industry through innovative technology and operational excellence.
Aker BP is showcasing its expertise this week at ONS 2024, exhibiting at booth 8380 in Stavanger. The company and its partners are ensuring the continued operation and growth of the Valhall area, contributing to long-term and predictable energy supplies for Europe. This achievement is a testament to the industry’s ability to adapt, innovate, and secure future energy needs.
