VPS, DNV offer vessels emission reporting service

**Title: Enhancing Emissions Reporting for Offshore Vessels: VPS and DNV’s Latest Collaboration**

In a significant move to bolster environmental sustainability and operational efficiency, VPS and DNV’s Veracity have forged a strategic partnership to streamline Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) reporting for offshore vessels. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to reducing emissions and promoting a more data-driven maritime industry.

The partnership leverages VPS’s advanced digital decarbonization services and Veracity’s state-of-the-art maritime emissions cloud to simplify the MRV reporting process. This integration aims to minimize administrative burdens for vessel operators, ensuring that high-quality data is seamlessly transferred between VPS’s Maress system and DNV’s verification platform. By automating data validation and verification processes, vessel owners can now achieve regulatory compliance with greater ease.

The new MRV regulations, set to come into effect on January 1, 2025, require offshore vessels over 400 GT entering EU/EEA ports to adhere to stringent emission tracking standards. To meet these requirements, VPS’s Maress system is equipped with an MRV Reporting Module that supports data validation, voyage validation, and automated data transfer to Veracity by DNV.

With over 600 offshore vessels using Maress for fuel and emission monitoring, optimization, and reporting, this technology is pivotal in the collaboration between vessel owners, charterers, crews, and operators. Some of the vessels participating in VPS’s summer campaign have already achieved substantial emissions reductions of up to 28%, utilizing the Maress dashboards for unique collaboration and monitoring of decarbonization initiatives.

Sveinung Økland, Operation Manager of North Sea Shipping, highlights the benefits of this integration: “We collect all consumption data for our fleet in Maress and are excited that the validated and checked quality data in Maress automatically flows to DNV for efficient verification. This reduces the administrative tasks related to MRV significantly for our staff.”

Mikkel Skou, Executive Director at Veracity by DNV, emphasizes the collaborative mission: “The Partner Agreement and integration of Veracity and VPS’s Maress is a step in our joint mission to foster a more data-driven and connected maritime industry.”

Jan Wilhelmsson, COO Digital & Decarbonization at VPS, provides further insight into the strategic collaboration: “This partnership represents a significant step towards efficient and accurate MRV reporting for the offshore industry. By combining VPS’s expertise in data
