The project, to be executed through their 50-50 joint venture Castellón Green Hydrogen S.L., involves the construction of a green hydrogen facility that will be operational by the second half of 2026. The facility will utilize a 25 MW electrolyzer powered by renewable electricity sourced from Iberdrola’s solar and wind projects. Specifically, the electrolyzer will be composed of five units of 5 MW modules using containerized proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology from Plug Power, a leading manufacturer of green hydrogen solutions.

1. **Decarbonization Goals**: The green hydrogen produced by this plant aims to support BP’s decarbonization strategy by replacing part of the grey hydrogen currently used in the refinery, which is produced from natural gas.
