bpTT, EOG to develop offshore Trinidad gas resource

**bp Trinidad and Tobago and EOG Resources Prepare to Unleash Major Gas Restoration Project Offshore Trinidad**

In a significant strategic move, bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and EOG Resources Trinidad have forged a 50/50 joint venture to develop the Coconut gas field located in the Columbus basin, off the southeastern coast of Trinidad. This partnership marks the latest collaboration in the duo’s continuation of enhancing Trinidad and Tobago’s gas production capabilities.

The Coconut project is situated in approximately 260 feet of water, a depth that poses both challenges and opportunities for precise drilling and resource extraction. The final investment decision has been made by the joint-venture partners, setting a clear path for the project’s progression. First gas is anticipated to be produced by 2027, a timeline that underscores the commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable energy solutions.

This development is part of a broader initiative to bolster bpTT’s gas portfolio and support Trinidad and Tobago’s status as a significant player in the global LNG market. The partnership with EOG Resources is reminiscent of previous successful ventures such as EMZ (2011), Sercan (2016), Banyan (2017), and the upcoming Mento project, scheduled to come online by 2025.

EOG’s operational expertise will be crucial in driving this project forward. The company has a proven track record in offshore drilling, particularly evident in its management of the Pelican field. By leveraging advanced seismic data and technological advancements, EOG aims to uncover substantial gas reserves that have been previously undetectable.

**Key Strategic Points:**

1. **Joint Venture:** The Coconut gas development project is a collaborative effort between bp Trinidad and Tobago and EOG Resources Trinidad, ensuring a robust and sustainable approach to gas extraction.
2. **OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY:** EOG Resources will serve as the operator of the project, leveraging its expertise in deep-water exploration and drilling techniques.
3. **TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCE
