In a significant milestone for the oil and gas industry, BP Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and EOG Resources Trinidad have announced a strategic partnership to develop the Coconut offshore natural gas resource off the southeast coast of Trinidad. This collaboration marks the latest development effort between the two companies, which have a long history of working together to unlock Trinidad’s extensive gas reserves.
#### The Project Overview
The Coconut gas development is situated in the Columbus basin, approximately 260 feet beneath the surface of the sea. This project represents a significant step in accelerating gas production in Trinidad, with the goal of delivering first gas production in 2027. The development is led by a 50/50 joint venture between bpTT and EOG Resources Trinidad, with EOG serving as the operator.

This partnership is part of a larger portfolio of initiatives that bpTT and EOG have successfully executed. Previous developments include the EMZ field, which began production in 2011; the Sercan field, which started producing in 2016; and the Banyan field, which began operations in 2017.
