bp to supply Norwegian crudes to Orlen refineries

**bp Secures 12-Month Deal to Supply Norwegian Crudes to Orlen Refineries**

bp plc has announced a significant agreement to supply refined oil products to Orlen SA, one of Poland’s leading refining companies. Under this 12-month deal, bp will deliver six million tonnes per year (mtpy) of crude oil from its North Sea fields offshore Norway to Orlen’s refineries in Poland and Lithuania.

The contract is designed to provide Orlen with flexible supply options. Crude oil shipments will be routed to either the Polish port of Gdańsk or the Lithuanian port of Būtinga based on regional demand. The first delivery under the contract is scheduled to arrive in Gdańsk in September 2024, covering approximately 15% of Orlen’s annual feedstock requirements.

This partnership enhances Orlen’s diversification strategy, which includes sourcing oil from various regions to ensure a consistent and reliable feedstock supply. The Norwegian crude oil grades to be supplied include Forties and Brent from the UK, as well as Oseberg, Johan Sverdrup, Troll, Grane, Brent, and Ekofisk from Norway. Additionally, Orlen’s refineries will continue to receive West Texas Intermediate (WTI), Bakken, and Mars grades from the United States, alongside Forcados and Bonny Light crude oil from West Africa.

The agreement aligns with bp’s commitment to supporting energy security in Central and Eastern Europe. bp Poland’s Head of Country, Bogdan Kucharski, highlighted that the collaboration is crucial for advancing the energy transition.

“Working with ORLEN, a major player in refining, is an important step for our business in Poland. This supply arrangement not only boosts Poland’s energy security but also contributes to the broader regional stability. Our trading team can now supply a wide range of crude grades to ORLEN, further enhancing our mutual cooperation and future opportunities,” Kuch
