Aker BP reaches first oil at Tyrving

**Aker BP Achieves Milestone at Tyrving Field: Boosting Production and Sustainability in the Alvheim Area**

On September 3, 2024, Aker BP marked a significant achievement with the start of oil production from the Tyrving field, located in the Alvheim area offshore Norway. This milestone development is a continuation of Aker BP’s ambitious strategy to optimize local production capacity and reduce environmental impact.

### The Tyrving Development

The Tyrving field development consists of three production wells and two new subsea installations, or manifolds. These innovative installations are directly tied back to existing infrastructure at East Kameleon and further linked to the Alvheim Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit. This integrated approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports the overall environmental strategy by leveraging existing infrastructure.

### Environmental Considerations

One of the key aspects of the Tyrving development is its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. The project aims to minimize CO₂ emissions per barrel, aligning with Aker BP’s broader strategy to decrease unit costs and lower environmental footprints. The estimated CO₂ emissions for Tyrving stand at just 0.3 kilograms per barrel, which is an exceptional achievement in the oil and gas industry.

### Operational Highlights

– **Operator and Partners:** Aker BP is the leading operator with a 61.3% stake in the Tyrving field. Petoro AS holds 26.84%, and PGNiG Upstream Norway AS owns 11.9%.
– **Recoverable Resources:** The Tyrving field is estimated to hold approximately 25 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe), representing a substantial contribution to the overall production in the Alvheim area.
– **Sustainability Efforts:** The development’s focus on reducing emissions underscores Aker BP’s commitment to sustainable practices. By integrating new subsea installations with existing infrastructure, the company has optimized both economic and environmental performance, setting a precedent for future projects.
