Aker BP Achieves a Significant Milestone with First Oil Production at Tyrving Field

A milestone has been reached in the oil and gas industry as Aker BP announced the start of oil production from the Tyrving field, located in the Alvheim area offshore Norway. This significant achievement marks the culmination of the company’s strategy to enhance local production capacity while reducing environmental impact.

### Key Developments

The Tyrving development leverages the extended lifetime of the Alvheim field, with the aim of increasing production while minimizing unit costs and carbon emissions. The entire operation is efficiently designed, utilizing three wells and two new subsea installations (manifolds) tied back to existing infrastructure at East Kameleon and further to the Alvheim FPSO. This infrastructure allows for the efficient offloading of oil to shuttle tankers, optimizing both economic and environmental performance.

### Operational Highlights

Aker BP holds the leading operator position at Tyrving with a substantial stake of 61.3%. The other key partners include Petoro AS with 26.84% and PGNiG Upstream Norway AS with 11.9%. The Tyrving field is estimated to hold recoverable resources of approximately 25 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). The development is particularly noteworthy for its exceptionally low emissions profile, with an estimated 0.3 kilograms of CO₂ per barrel, underscoring Aker BP’s commitment to sustainability in the oil and gas industry.

### Strategic Alignment

The start of oil production from Tyrving aligns perfectly with Aker BP’s broader strategic objectives. By leveraging existing infrastructure for new production, the company has managed to optimize economic and environmental performance. This strategic alignment not only enhances local production capacity but also demonstrates Aker BP’s dedication to responsible and sustainable oil and gas operations.
