**Aker BP Achieves Milestone with First Oil Production at Tyrving Field Offshore Norway**
A significant milestone has been reached in the oil and gas industry as Aker BP has successfully initiated oil production from the Tyrving field, located in the Alvheim area offshore Norway. This achievement aligns with the company’s strategy to extend the lifetime of the Alvheim field, increase production, and reduce both unit costs and CO2 emissions per barrel.
The Tyrving development involves three wells and two new subsea installations, known as manifolds, which are tied back to existing infrastructure at East Kameleon and further to the Alvheim Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit. This integrated approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also optimizes environmental performance by minimizing emissions.
Aker BP estimates that the recoverable resources at Tyrving are approximately 25 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). The company holds a stake of 61.3% in the Tyrving field, with Petoro AS and PGNiG Upstream Norway AS owning 26.84% and 11.9%, respectively.
The Tyrving development is a testament to Aker BP’s commitment to sustainable and efficient oil production. By leveraging existing infrastructure, the company has managed to reduce both financial and environmental costs. This approach is crucial for maintaining profitability and ensuring environmental responsibility in the oil and gas industry.
“This milestone highlights our dedication to maximizing local production capacity while reducing our environmental footprint,” stated an Aker BP spokesperson. “By extending the Alvheim field’s lifetime, we are able to increase production while minimizing emissions, leading to a more sustainable future for the industry.”
The Alvheim field has a rich history of successful operations, with the Skogul field tied-in to Alvheim and starting production in 2020, and Frosk entering production in 2023. Aker BP continues to mature discoveries such as Kobra East & Gekko (KEG) and
