bp to supply Norwegian crudes to Orlen refineries

### bp Supplying Norwegian Crudes to Orlen Refineries Enhances Energy Security

In a strategic move to bolster its feedstock portfolio and improve operational efficiency, the Polish refinery Orlen has secured a significant supply deal with bp for crude oil from Norway’s North Sea fields. This 12-month agreement marks a significant step in Orlen’s ongoing efforts to diversify its crude supplies and reduce reliance on other sources.

#### Key Highlights of the Agreement

– **Supply Volume**: BP is set to deliver an impressive 6 million tonnes of crude oil per year, which accounts for approximately 15% of Orlen’s total annual feedstock demand.
– **Delivery Points**: The crude oil will be directed to either the Polish port of Gdańsk or the Lithuanian port of Būtinga based on Orlen’s regional feedstock requirements.
– **First Delivery**: The first shipment is scheduled to arrive in Gdańsk in September 2024, marking the beginning of this substantial supply arrangement.

#### Quality and Efficiency

Orlen’s Chief Executive Officer and President, Ireneusz Fąfara, highlighted the benefits of this agreement. “The oil we will acquire through this contract is not only of consistent quality and sourced from geographically close North Sea fields but also has properties that ensure high yields and is well-suited to the processing technologies at our refineries. This, in turn, enhances the economic efficiency of our production facilities.”

This deal underscores Orlen’s commitment to enhancing its energy security through diverse and high-quality crude sources. The North Sea crudes, including grades such as Forties and Brent from the UK, as well as Oseberg, Johan Sverdrup, Troll, Grane, Brent, and Ekofisk from Norway, will play a crucial role in meeting Orlen’s processing demands.
