### BP to Supply Norwegian Crudes to Orlen Refineries

In a significant move aimed at enhancing energy security and diversifying its feedstock portfolio, Orlen SA, a leading Polish refining company, has secured a 12-month contract with BP plc for the supply of crude oil from Norwegian fields in the North Sea. This arrangement involves BP delivering 6 million tonnes of Norwegian crude annually, which will cover approximately 15% of Orlen’s total feedstock requirements.

The agreement is structured to provide Orlen with flexibility in supply logistics, with crude oil cargoes directed to either the Polish port of Gdańsk or the Lithuanian port of Būtinga, based on regional demand. The first batch of crude oil under this contract is scheduled to arrive in Gdańsk in September 2024, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two companies.

**Diversification and Energy Security**

The collaboration is a key component of Orlen’s ongoing efforts to diversify its feedstock portfolio, reducing dependence on single-source crude oil supplies. Ireneusz Fąfara, President of the ORLEN Management Board, emphasized that the consistency and quality of Norwegian crude are particularly advantageous, ensuring high yields and optimal processing efficiency at Orlen’s refineries. Fštíar further noted that sourcing from nearby North Sea fields enhances economic efficiency by aligning with the current refining technologies.

**Enhancing Regional Energy Security**

Bogdan Kucharski, Head of Country for bp Poland, highlighted the importance of this agreement in bolstering energy security for Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European region. By sourcing oil from stable and well-established suppliers like BP, Orlen is able to meet its regional demands while promoting sustainable energy practices. Kucharski also expressed bp’s commitment to advancing the energy transition alongside Orlen, exploring future opportunities in renewable fuels and sustainable practices[
