bp to supply Norwegian crudes to Orlen refineries

**BP and Orlen Sign Historic Agreement to Supply Norwegian Crude Oil to Poland and Lithuania**

In a significant move to strengthen the energy landscape of Central and Eastern Europe, BP has secured a 12-month contract with Orlen to supply six million tonnes of crude oil from Norwegian North Sea fields each year. This strategic partnership is set to cover approximately 15% of Orlen’s annual feedstock requirements, significantly bolstering the company’s diversification efforts in sourcing high-quality crude.

### Diversifying Feedstock for Enhanced Efficiency

The agreement is designed to provide Orlen with flexible supply options. Crude oil shipments will be directed to either the Polish port of Gdańsk or the Lithuanian port of Būtinga based on demand. This flexibility is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of Orlen’s refineries, ensuring they can seamlessly adapt to changing market conditions.

The crude oil supplied by BP, sourced from Norwegian fields such as Oseberg, Johan Sverdrup, Troll, Grane, and Ekofisk, is renowned for its consistent quality and properties that ensure high yields. This consistent quality is well-suited to the processing technologies used by Orlen, thereby optimizing refinery performance and reducing operational costs.

### Strengthening Energy Security

This partnership not only supports Orlen’s diversification efforts but also enhances energy security for Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European region. By securing a reliable supply of high-quality crude from geographically close sources, Poland can reduce its dependence on other regions and mitigate potential supply disruptions.

### Expanding Business Ties

Bogdan Kucharski, Head of Country for bp Poland, emphasized the importance of this agreement for bp’s business in Poland. “Our agreement to supply Orlen with Norwegian crude oil is an important step for our business in Poland.
