**bpTT and EOG Resources Announce Partnership to Develop Offshore Trinidad Gas Resource**
Trinidad and Tobago is set to witness another significant milestone in its energy sector, as bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and EOG Resources Trinidad have partnered to develop the Coconut gas field located in the Columbus basin, off the southeast coast of Trinidad. This 50/50 joint venture will be operated by EOG, marking the latest collaboration between the two entities in offshore natural gas development.
The Coconut gas field, discovered in 2005 by bpTT in 260 feet of water, is poised to begin production in 2027. This development follows a string of successful projects initiated by the companies, including the EMZ field (2011), Sercan (2016), Banyan (2017), and the upcoming Mento project (2025).
“This partnership underscores our commitment to accelerating gas production from Trinidad’s offshore reserves,” said David Campbell, bpTT president. “We are not only enhancing our current operations but also paving the way for future growth opportunities, including the Ginger field development, which will further bolster Trinidad’s position as a key player in the global energy market.”
