### BPTT and EOG Resources to Develop Offshore Trinidad Gas Resource

In a significant move to enhance gas production in Trinidad and Tobago, bp Trinidad and Tobago (BPTT) and EOG Resources Trinidad have announced a joint venture to develop the Coconut gas field offshore Trinidad. This collaborative effort aims to bring the first gas production online by 2027, marking a significant stride in the country’s quest for sustainable energy production.

#### Project Overview

The Coconut field is located in the Columbus basin, approximately 260 feet beneath the surface of the sea. The joint venture-partnership will be a 50/50 split, with EOG Resources serving as the operator. This development follows previous successful projects initiated by the companies, including the EMZ (2011), Sercan (2016), Banyan (2017), and Mento (scheduled to come online in 2025).

BP’s operations in Trinidad encompass a substantial area of approximately 680,000 acres along the eastern coast of the island. The company operates 16 offshore platforms and two onshore processing facilities, underscoring its extensive involvement in the region.

#### Strategic Implications

David Campbell, President of bpTT, emphasized that this partnership will accelerate gas production from the Coconut field while providing space to progress other gas growth opportunities, such as the Ginger field development. The initiative aligns with bp’s strategy to achieve higher value growth in Trinidad by focusing on high-margin investments.

#### Production Projections

The first gas production from the Coconut field is anticipated for 2027, generating significant revenue as Trinidad seeks to boost its natural gas output. This development is part of a broader plan to enhance gas production, with projected volumes expected to surge beyond 2024.

#### Regional Context

Trinidad and Tobago aims to achieve double-digit production growth for both natural gas and crude oil by 2024, driven by various ongoing and upcoming projects. However, recent gas production has been hindered by un
