**Eni Initiates Production at Argo Cassiopea Offshore Gas Field in Sicily**

Italian multinational energy corporation Eni has recently achieved a significant milestone by commencing gas production at the Argo Cassiopea field, located in the Strait of Sicily. This ambitious project, executed in partnership with Energean, marks a significant stride in enhancing Italy’s energy security through the utilization of domestic natural gas as a low-emission source.

**Background and Development**
The Argo Cassiopea project began its operational journey just three years ago, reflecting Eni’s commitment to swift and efficient project execution. The development involves four subsea wells, which were drilled recently in the Strait of Sicily. Initially, one of these wells has been brought online, showcasing the operational capabilities of the project.

**Operational Details**
Gas from the Argo Cassiopea field is transported via a 60-kilometer subsea pipeline directly to the Gela processing plant. Once processed, the gas will be fed into Italy’s national grid, contributing substantially to the country’s energy needs. The remaining wells and associated infrastructure are expected to come online and be commissioned in the coming months.

**Environmental Considerations**
To align with Eni’s commitment to sustainability, the project has incorporated innovative measures to minimize its environmental footprint. The production at Argo Cassiopea is entirely subsea, resulting in no visual impact and near-zero emissions. Additionally, a dedicated installation of 3.6 megawatt-peak (MWp) photovoltaic panels has been integrated to ensure the project achieves carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

**Reserves and Production Forecast**
The Argo Cassiopea field is estimated to hold approximately 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas reserves, with peak annual production projected at 1.5 bcm. This significant resource is expected to play a central role in meeting Italy’s energy demands while promoting the use of
