**TotalEnergies Initiates Gas Production at Fenix Offshore Field in Argentina**
In a significant development for the global energy landscape, TotalEnergies has successfully commenced gas production at the Fenix field, located approximately 60 kilometers off the coast of Tierra del Fuego in southern Argentina. This milestone marks a new era in the company’s operations in Argentina, particularly in the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession.
### Proximity and Infrastructure
Situated at a depth of 70 meters beneath the surface, the Fenix field utilizes an existing infrastructure model to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The newly constructed unmanned platform is strategically connected to the existing CMA-1 facilities, leveraging existing infrastructure to minimize environmental footprint. With a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters per day (70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day), this development underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to maximizing resource utilization while ensuring sustainable practices.
### Production and Transportation
Gas produced at the Fenix field is transported through a 35-kilometer-long subsea pipeline to the TotalEnergies-operated Véga Pléyade platform. From there, it is further processed onshore at the Río Cullen and Cañadon Alfa facilities, both of which are fully managed by TotalEnergies. This streamlined process not only ensures efficient production but also guarantees a reliable supply chain that caters to the Argentine gas market.
### Environmental Impact
TotalEnergies has ensured that the Fenix development adheres to stringent environmental standards. With a carbon intensity of 9 kilograms of CO2e per barrel of oil equivalent, Fenix stands as a model for low-emission projects. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the use of existing infrastructure, which further reduces ecological impact. Javier Rielo, Senior Vice-President for Americas in Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies, emphasized this aspect, stating, “Fenix will contribute to
