Geoquip Marine, a prominent provider of offshore geotechnical services, has announced the appointment of Rune Olav Pedersen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2025. Pedersen brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent the last 14 years at PGS, where he led the company through a successful turnaround and merger with TGS.
Pedersen’s tenure at PGS was marked by significant accomplishments, including the company’s resurgence and integration with TGS. His new role at Geoquip Marine will see him leveraging his extensive knowledge of the offshore industry to drive the company forward, focusing on expanding sector exposure to new opportunities in oil and gas, subsea cabling, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and scientific research.
Under Pedersen’s leadership, Geoquip Marine aims to enhance its services with new investments in geotechnical equipment, vessels, onshore laboratories, and talent. The company’s revenue is expected to more than double over the next five years as it capitalizes on growing demands in these sectors.
Outgoing CEO Richard Turner, who was first appointed in 2022, will continue to support the company as a senior advisor in the lead-up to Pedersen’s arrival. Turner’s commitment to the organization reflects the seamless transition that Geoquip Marine is pursuing under its new leadership.
Geoquip Marine is currently generating annual revenues of $125 million and is repositioning itself for significant growth. The company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation is underscored by its recent announcement of its third annual sustainability report, highlighting its ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint.
